چکیده

Ocular drug delivery is a very challenging area for ophthalmologists and scientists due to the structural barrier complexity of eye. Barriers such as different layers cornea, sclera, conjunctival blood flow, tear dilution limit efficacy anterior part eye in addition more barriers present posterior part. Due these, have designed studied various systems increase treatment Among conventional ocular systems, ophthalmic solution or drop widely used preferred by consumers. Conventional dosage forms available market are emulsion, suspension, ointment polymeric gels. Several formulations nano-formulations, liposomes, inserts, mini-tablets also being future treatments improve an alternative delivery. This review intends summarise several novel topical

A Comparative Review on Conventional and Advanced Ocular Drug Delivery Formulations

Amongst the various routes of drug delivery, the field of ocular drug delivery is one of the most interesting and challenging endeavors facing the pharmaceutical scientist for past 10-20 years. As an isolated organ, eye is very difficult to study from a drug delivery point of view. Despite these limitation, improvements have been made with the objective of maintaining the drug in the biophase f...

Insitu Gel : a Novel System for Ocular Drug Delivery

Eye is the most vital organ of the body. To achieve effective ocular therapy, an adequate amount of active ingredients must be delivered and maintain at the site of action within the eye. The anatomical structure and the protective physiological process of the eye exert a formidable defense against ophthalmic drug delivery, leads to poor precorneal drug loss results in poor ocular by availabili...

Semifluorinated alkanes as a liquid drug carrier system for topical ocular drug delivery.

Semifluorinated alkanes (SFA, e.g. perfluorobutylpentane F4H5, perfluorohexyloctane F6H8) are inert, non-toxic fluids capable of dissolving lipophilic drugs. The aim of this study to assess the bioavailability and safety of SFAs as drug solvents for the topical ocular application of Cyclosporin A (CsA). A commercially available CsA formulation (Restasis, 0.05% CsA in castor oil) was tested agai...
